In August 2024 we were part of the World Gold Panning Championship in Zlaté Hory. The brief was a fire show which we, together with our friends, tailored to the theme of the event. We took the framework from a Nordic fire show and built a story about gold panning on top of it.
The main heroine was a girl panning for gold by the river. Her desire for greater riches, however, leads her astray. She signs away her soul to the devil to have more gold than she ever dreamed of. When the devil then comes to collect what he was promised, a brave young man saves her at the very last moment. We told the whole story without words – through fire, movement and expression alone.
